TEACHING LANGUAGE

Greek or English (at least B1/may vary according to the Bilateral)

The official language of instruction in the University of Thessaly is Greek. However, in numerous cases Erasmus+ exchange students are facilited in their academic work by getting bibliography, tutoring, exams, etc. in English. They are given tutoring courses and private study load in English as well as projects and assignments. In some instances, exams may also be given in English. This means that all applicants should be at least B1 level users in both written and spoken English. Some Bilaterals may require another level of English knowledge, so please refer to each Bilateral.  This requirement does not apply to students who are qualified to carry out their studies in Greek. 

 

1. ENGLISH LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Important: Students are required to have the level of knowledge in English specified in the relevant Bilateral Agreement. The required level of English knowledge may vary. Most Bilateral Agreements require a B1 level, but some may require a B2 or C1 level of English knowledge. 

 The accepted English certificates according to level are: 

B1                       B2

C1                       C2

Exemptions

*Please, make sure you consult your home university for the level of knowledge stated in the Bilateral Agreement. 

 

2. GREEK LANGUAGE COURSES

The University of Thessaly offers Greek language courses to all Erasmus and international Students every academic year.

The courses have no tuition and they can be included in the Learning Agreement (3 ECTS).
